The Beginning

It is not in my nature to ruin a book for another reader. I will not give any further details about the ending of this novel. I will say, however, that despite all that Lee experiences, she makes it through. The end is fairly eye-opening because

Lee has truly hit rock bottom. I feel sick to my stomach while reading because her suffering is so palpable. I want to pity Lee because she has been taken advantage of in so many ways but I can't really because she let it happen. Beginning with Cross,

I'm a little confused about Lee's behavior. Before she came to Ault, she was an honor student and an over-achiever. *spoiler*

Correction

I made a mistake in my first post that I have just become aware of. I initially believed that Prep was based on the life of the author, Curtis Sittenfeld. The story is so detailed that it is easy to imagine it being a person's life. The story is NOT, however, based on Sittenfeld's life. While she did attend a New England preparatory school, Lee does not represent her.
