The Beginning

It is not in my nature to ruin a book for another reader. I will not give any further details about the ending of this novel. I will say, however, that despite all that Lee experiences, she makes it through. The end is fairly eye-opening because

Mistaken

Lee has truly hit rock bottom. I feel sick to my stomach while reading because her suffering is so palpable. I want to pity Lee because she has been taken advantage of in so many ways but I can't really because she let it happen. Beginning with Cross,

Cross Is Back

Cheaters

I'm a little confused about Lee's behavior. Before she came to Ault, she was an honor student and an over-achiever. *spoiler*

Correction

I made a mistake in my first post that I have just become aware of. I initially believed that Prep was based on the life of the author, Curtis Sittenfeld. The story is so detailed that it is easy to imagine it being a person's life. The story is NOT, however, based on Sittenfeld's life. While she did attend a New England preparatory school, Lee does not represent her.

YouWhoops

I just wanted to make a clarification that I noticed while on YouTube. I had searched for a trailer relating to Prep and I found this link. It's a"trailer" based on the novel made by sophomore students. I just wanted to point out that this trailer has nothing to do with this novel. None of the scenes are even remotely in the book. No one leaves a table because Lee joins. No one trips her in the hall. Her parents do not hate her. This "trailer" is actually pretty funny because of its contrast with the story. The only reason I'm posting this is to warn anyone who sees it on YouTube and forms a negative impression about the book. The book is a million times better.
(Note: I do not own any of the video)

Surprise!

Wow! WOW!

Sin-Jun

Earlier in the story, a character was introduced that I had assumed was unessential to the story. Sin-Jun, a transfer student from Korea, was Lee's roommate from her freshman year at Ault. She seemed quiet, very smart, but most importantly, happy. Well, not exactly happy but not UN-happy. She was a normal person with normal problems and feelings. Apparently, both me and Lee were mistaken. *Spoilers*

Parents

Curtis Sittenfeld has touched on an issue to which I'm sure nearly every teenager may relate. Parents. No matter who you are, how old your are, how rich you are, blah, blah, blah...
